Oatley Public School is proud to announce great achievements from two of our students in the past week.
Congratulation to Lena from 4P, who won the Premier’s Spelling Bee competition on Wednesday 8th November 2017.
The Premier’s Spelling Bee was introduced in 2004 as a fun and educational way for primary school students to engage in spelling. The program includes activities that encourage all students to engage with spelling and promotes improved literacy in combination with the English K-6 Syllabus.
This year, there were over 3,700 students competing in 89 finals. 950 schools registered to participate in the 2017 Premier’s Spelling Bee, with an astounding 154 000 students involved in the competition!
We applaud Lena’s achievement as she has worked hard and shown great commitment to her learning.
Lily from 6H, competed in the Ultimo Operational Directorate Primary Schools Public Speaking Competition on Wednesday 8th November 2017.
The Public Speaking competition aims to develop the speaking and listening skills of students K-6 and draws the best speakers from schools and network finals to a grand final, thereby providing talented speakers with an opportunity to compete at an elite level.
There were almost 300 schools across the 15 networks participating in this competition, Lily represented the Georges River Network and won the overall competition for her stage.
We are very proud of Lily and her achievement in this area.
The students at Oatley Public School have many opportunities to engage in academic, sporting and creative curricula activities as they are continually supported by the dedicated staff, parents and other students.
