I hope everyone is enjoying the 1st week of the holidays. Like all of them in the past, they will be gone before we know it. I like to get our kids to set themselves a challenge to get them thinking about something other than screens for a while. A cardboard construction in the garden, researching and perfecting that paper aeroplane over a few days, or just getting through a book in a relaxing spot, it is great to have them feel a sense of accomplishment.
There is a P&C fundraiser planned for the 2nd week back, so some preparation for this may be a great way to get the kids to use some of that holiday energy. A Halloween-themed disco is scheduled for the afternoon of Friday 25th October, and will be held in stage groups throughout the afternoon. It will be during school time, with teachers and parent volunteers providing the kids a fun way to start the weekend. Kids are welcome to wear a costume for the disco, so the holidays are a good opportunity for the kids to get creative and make one, or to hunt down some supplies in the shops.
More information will be provided about the disco early in Term 4, so for now enjoy the rest of the holidays. Remember Friday afternoon ice-blocks start again in term 4, which is a great way for parents to meet other parents, and for the kids to have a chat and last game of handball before the weekend. Like all OPS P&C activities, money raised goes back to the school community through initiatives discussed and resolutions agreed upon at the monthly P&C meetings.
