Aims of the Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)
- To promote the interests of the school by bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into close co-operation.
- To assist in providing facilities and equipment for the school and in promoting the recreation and welfare of the students at the school
Functions of the P&C
- To report on the material requirements of the school and to advise on the subject of school maintenance.
- To assist and co-operate with the teaching staff in public functions associated with the school.
- To assist in any matters which the Minister may seek the co-operation of the association.
One of the main aims of the P&C is to raise much needed funds to improve the school environment and education resources. The P&C Fun-draising team gets together once a term to plan and organise various social events and fundraising.
For those parents that like to be hands-on and work with other like minded people this is the perfect role. Personal satisfaction guaranteed!
Membership will be open to all parents and guardians of pupils attending the school and to all citizens within the school community. A person who appears in the register, who has paid the annual subscription ($6), is a financial member of the P&C.
The best way to provide support and find out more about the school and its students is to attend the Parent & Citizen Association (P&C) meetings. These meetings are friendly and extremely informative. New faces and fresh ideas are always welcomed. P&C meetings provide an opportunity to become involved with the management of the school and to contribute your ideas or raise issues for discussion. Topics of interest relating to student development and specific educational programs are also presented.
Our P&C meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm in the School Administration Block. In the event of our meeting falling in school holidays the meeting will be transferred to the next month.
Members are asked to email any specific issues they wish to address to the P&C President in advance so it can be added to the meeting’s agenda. You can do so through our contact page.
When you are involved in school activities, you have loads of fun, make great friends and are amply rewarded by seeing your children shine with pride when you are around.
If you would like any further information on the Oatley P&C, or any school related activities, please don’t hesitate to enquire at the school office or talk to the P&C President.
Voluntary School Contributions
The voluntary school contribution is levied each year to help provide the range of equipment and materials needed by the children.
The School Council comprises two staff, four parents, two community representatives, a P&C representative as well as the school Principal. The School Council does not make any day to day decisions. It is responsible for setting the future goals and directions for the school.
Positions on the School Council are held for a maximum four year term. When positions become available they are advertised within the school community and interested parties are voted into the role.
If you are interested in finding out more about the School Council, please feel free to talk to the School Council President or the Principal.
