With the winter holiday break upon us, the reality is that many of our Oatley PS students will spend a significant part of their winter break connected to the Internet using an electronic device of some description.
All teachers constantly reinforce the importance of cyber safety whilst students are using the Internet at school and interacting with each other electronically. We would also like to remind our school community of the importance of our students being safe online at all times, especially at home.
For parents, there are many informative and useful resources available for you to find out more about what you can do to keep your child ‘safe’ online. One of the most important things you can do is to always be vigilant and aware of what your child is accessing online.
The Office of the eSafety Commissioner website is a government website which provides a significant number of resources to parents on cybersafety and eSafety concerns. One such section of the website is below:
There are also links on this website to eSafety tips for popular games and apps such as Minecraft and ROBLOX.
Over the next couple of months, we are going to regularly feature short cyber safety tips and eSafety messages in the newsletter, which will draw your attention to specific information.
